Kyoung Ju

Pulguksa 1

Text: Saturday morning we took a bus out to Sokkuram grotto and Pulguksa temple, located on To Ham San mountain south-east of town. Our bus went through the resort district, past expensive hotels, golf courses, and "Kyoung Ju World" amusement park. Pulguksa is quite probably Korea's most photographed temple. Many of the photos that appear in books and calendars look very much like the one on this ticket. We deliberately avoided taking any pictures from that exact angle.

(Page 2) The temple's two staircases are now closed to the public. Visitors have to go around the side of the building to get inside.
