Anheung/

Shin Jin Do

Text: On Saturday, May 10, we went exploring out on the west coast. We looked at our map and decided to investigate a temple near a little town called An Heung. We caught a bus to Tae An first. It wasn't far but it took a long time to get there because the bus wound around and stopped at every little place along the way. At the terminal in Tae An we boarded a smaller bus, joining some elderly people bound for the country. They were all very friendly and helped us get off at the right stop. The temple turned out to be small and uninviting, but right next to it we found the remains of An Heung fortress, which we spent a while exploring. Near the main gate there were black goats grazing and a host of noisy frogs singing in a ditch. Inside the walls were a few houses and garden plots. We met an old man who took us up to one of the other gates and told us a little about the area.

(Page 2) We walked across a bridge to a little island called Shin Jin Do, where we found an oily fishing harbor, a Coast Guard station, and some interesting twisty rocks. Helena went home with her first sunburn of the year.

Pens: Zig Writer baby blue, Zig Scroll and Brush burgundy, Micron black (01)

Scissors: Fiskars wave

I got the knotted rope border from a stencil book in the library.

The right page was completed quite a while before the left page. The right side is one of my favorite pages.

The "Shin Jin Do" title is one of the few brush pen attempts that I got right on the first try (just lucky).
